Reading Treble Clef
A Crash Course in Musical Notation
On the guitar we'll be working with the treble clef, which is designated by the swirled insignia on the far right of the staff. The treble clef encircles the second to bottom line of the musical staff, signifying that line as the note G. The spaces and lines on the music staff tell us the pitch — how high or low the note is. Each space and line above and below will expand outward one letter in the musical alphabet at a time (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, A, & so on...). Knowing this, let's take a look at what notes the spaces and lines of the music staff will notate in treble clef. Spaces In Treble Clef — F, A, C, E (from lowest to highest)
